Day 1 Lake District
Arrival at Manchester Airport. Meet and greet by a professional guide who will accompany us by motor coach to our Lake District hotel. The Lake District is famous not just for its breathtaking scenery of lakes and mountains but also its association with poets such as Wordsworth, authors Beatrix Potter and Arthur Ransome and free thinkers such as Ruskin.

Day 2 Lake District North
We meet our local guide and begin our day with a cruise on Ullswater followed by a visit to the Lilliput Lane factory, well known for its miniature pottery houses. Travelling around the base of Skiddaw we explore the lovely Lakeland town of Keswick. Returning to our hotel via the beautiful village of Grasmere, we sample the local gingerbread before visiting Dove Cottage, home of the poet William Wordsworth.

Day 3 Lake District South
Enjoy a full day excursion with a local guide, beginning with a journey to the village of Hawkshead to visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery. From here we journey along narrow country lanes to visit Hill Top, the delightfully small 17th century farmhouse where Beatrix Potter wrote many of her famous children's stories. In the afternoon we travel by boat on Coniston Water to visit Brantwood House, once the home of John Ruskin and said to be the most beautifully situated property in the Lake District.

Day 4 Lake District Central
Today's excursion explores the central Lakes region with plenty of free time in lovely Ambleside. This is a unique and relaxing town in a glorious and historic setting, occupied from well before Roman times and settled additionally by the Vikings. We visit the National Park Centre in nearby Brockhole and journey by train and boat on and around Lake Windermere, to visit a pretty Lakeland village.

Day 5 Lake District – Liverpool
A short journey south brings us to Liverpool, the European City of Culture 2008. Here we meet a local guide, with an expert knowledge of The Beatles. Walk in the band's footsteps down Penny Lane, past Strawberry Fields and their childhood homes before visiting The Beatles Story, the world's only Beatles themed visitor attraction.

Day 6 Manchester
Manchester is a great city and one of many contrasts. We begin our exploration with a fascinating visit to Quarry Bank Mill, an industrial heritage site, to experience life in Victorian times. We also visit Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United Football Club and the Lowry Art Gallery in nearby Salford.

Day 7 Manchester
