Day 1 Edinburgh

On arrival at Edinburgh or Glasgow airport a professional local guide greets and accompanies us by motor coach on a panoramic tour of Edinburgh. Travel along Princes Street and catch a first view of Edinburgh Castle and The Royal Mile.

Day 2 Edinburgh

A local guide joins us for a morning tour of the city, which includes a visit to Edinburgh Castle. The castle stands guard over the city, captivating visitors with its ancient buildings and marvellous views. This afternoon is free for independent exploration. Tonight enjoy a Scottish themed dinner accompanied by traditional musical entertainment. Groups visiting Edinburgh in August may wish to include tickets to the world-famous spectacle of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Day 3 St Andrews - Inverness

This morning we cross the Firth of Forth to the Kingdom of Fife and spend time in the university city of St Andrews, also famous as the home of golf. Leaving the Lowlands behind, we pause in the Victorian resort of Pitlochry, which is the gateway to the Highlands. Our journey continues via the dramatic Grampian Mountains to Inverness.

Day 4 Speyside

A full day touring in Speyside, source of some of the country's finest malt whiskies. Visits are made to a distillery, a woollen mill and a Scottish food centre for a taste of some traditional shortbread. We also delve into the history of Scotland with a visit to Culloden Moor. In 1746 Culloden was the site of the last pitched battle in Britain and is considered to be one of the most poignant and haunting places in Britain.

Day 5 Loch Ness - Fort William

Today we travel to Loch Ness and enjoy a cruise on the loch, keeping an eye out for 'Nessie – the Loch Ness monster', along the way! A visit is also included to the remains of Urquhart Castle, one of the largest castles in Scotland with stunning views across the loch. Continue down the Great Glen to Fort William.

Day 6 Fort William - Glencoe - Oban

Our day begins with some free time in Fort William, set amidst stunning scenery and dominated by Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. We travel towards the coast and detour inland through Glencoe, scene of the infamous massacre of the Macdonalds by the Campbells in 1692. The dramatic highland landscape continues as we follow the coast road to the port of Oban.

Day 7 Isles of Mull and Iona

An early start today to board the ferry across to the beautiful Isle of Mull. Admire the natural beauty of Mull on the coach journey across the island to catch the foot passenger ferry to the peaceful island of Iona. This small Hebridean island is ideal for gentle walks, and those who wish can visit Iona Abbey, one of Scotland's most historic and sacred sites. The Abbey was founded by St Columba and his Irish followers in 563AD and today is a focus for Christian pilgrimage.

Day 8 Loch Lomond - Glasgow

Bid farewell to the mountains today and journey south via Glen Lochy to the banks of Loch Lomond. Here we take a cruise on the loch before a short journey brings us into Glasgow, Scotland's largest city. A local guide meets us and shows us the sights of this modern and stylish European city.

Day 9 Glasgow

Group transfer to Glasgow or Edinburgh airport. We will be pleased to tailor your tour to suit your preferred arrival and departure airports.
