Oberammergau 2020
The Oberammergau Passion Play is a tremendous spectacle with a huge cast and full orchestra. It is held every ten years and attracts pilgrims from around the world. It has been performed since the 17th Century by the local villagers following their miraculous deliverance from the plague in 1633. The play tells the story of Christ's Passion, beginning with the entry into Jerusalem and ending with the Resurrection and Transfiguration.
We have operated major programmes to the past five Passion Play seasons, in 1980, 1984, 1990, 2000 and 2010. We will be offering tours to the next Passion Play in 2020.
