This stunning region of Spain, just west of the Picos de Europa mountain range, is little explored. A real gem, it offers a fantastic blend of visits from the traditional fishing villages to historic towns and cities. This region has many diverse sites to visit including train, cider and mining museums. Our hotel is located on the outskirts of the coastal city of Gijon, surrounded by parklands it offers easy access to the surrounding area.

Day 1 Board the Brittany Ferries cruise ferry service to Santander. Enjoy the night on board ship.
Day 2 Arrive in Santander and drive along the coast with a mid evening arrival in Gijon for a 5 night stay.
Day 3 A day at leisure to the explore town and enjoy the hotel and surroundings.
Day 4 Travel to the regional capital city of Oviedo. Its compact medieval city centre is well worth exploring, especially the city’s cathedral which sits along the Camino Way and has welcomed visitors for centuries. This elegant city has parks, museums and a lively shopping centre to discover.
Day 5 A full day to the Picos de Europa Mountains. Travel into this stunning region to Potes, a lovely market town set high in the mountains. Return along the coastline or via the inland route past Riaño and Langreo.
Day 6 Travel west to the small city of Avilés, known for its wealth of architectural styles and café culture. Enjoy time at leisure to stroll the narrow colonnaded streets. Return to the hotel via the coastal villages of Luanco and Candas.
Day 7 Travel eastwards along the coast to Santander with some free time before boarding the afternoon sailing back to the UK.
Day 8 Arrive back to the UK and travel home.
