Culzean Castle

Ayrshire Coast, Castles and Isles

Based in the popular seaside resort of Ayr, this tour combines exploration of the Ayrshire Coast with a spot of island hopping. Also featured are Culzean Castle, Brodick Castle and plenty of time at leisure.

Ayrshire Coast • Great Cumbrai • Troon • Arran • Brodick Castle • Largs • Culzean Castle

Day 1 Travel to hotel in Ayr.

Day 2 A scenic drive to the charming seaside resort of Largs for the short crossing to Great Cumbrae, a small and picturesque island only 10 miles round. Stop in Millport before the return crossing to Largs. This afternoon, we recommend time at leisure in Troon with its sandy beaches, beautiful views and bustling harbour.

Day 3 Head south this morning to Culzean Castle and Country Park, perched high above the Ayrshire cliffs. A costumed guide will share the secrets of the castle, once home to the chieftan of Clan Kennedy, an ancient Scottish family descended from Robert the Bruce. Return to Ayr for time at leisure. Alternatively and for an additional cost, it is possible to include a visit to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and Burns Cottage.

Day 4 An early start today to include an excursion to the Isle of Arran, beginning with an included visit to Brodick Castle. Dramatically set against the backdrop of Goatfell, the grand red sandstone, baronial-style castle has stunning views over Brodick Bay and boasts impressive gardens. Spend time in Brodick before re-boarding the ferry back to the mainland and your hotel in Ayr.

Day 5 Homeward journey.
