Inis Orr, Aran Islands
County Clare and the Aran Islands
County Clare is known as 'Traditional lreland' thanks to its sleepy villages with colourful shop fronts, smoke from peat fires and local musicians playing in olde worlde bars. With a fantastic location overlooking the cascading Inagh River, our tour showcases the spectacular scenery of this region and, no doubt, the highlight will be a day on the Aran Islands.
Galway • Cliffs of Moher • The Burren • Scenic Cruise to Inishmore with Horse and Carriage Tour
Day 1 Afternoon ferry crossing and overnight near Dublin.
Day 2 Venture further west with a visit to thriving Galway for time at leisure. Proceed to Ennistymon for a 3 night stay at the Falls Hotel and Spa.
Day 3 Excursion to explore the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, which are home to Ireland's largest colony of sea birds. Entry to the visitor centre and The Atlantic Edge audio-visual presentation are included. Continue for an excursion through the moonscape scenery of The Burren with majestic mountains, tranquil valleys and megalithic tombs older than Egypt's pyramids.
Day 4 The highlight of the tour begins at Doolin, where your ferry awaits. On the Western fringes of the Atlantic Ocean, the three Aran Islands have been standing guard for centuries. Following a scenic cruise, we have included a tour of the largest island, Inishmore, the traditional way: by Horse and Carriage. Your driver will provide informative commentary as you wind your way through the island, past the dotted ruins of early Christian monasteries and fortifications to the base of Dun Aengus where, time allowing and for an additional cost, it is possible to include admission to this prehistoric stone fort which is spectacularly perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean.
Day 5 Travel back across Ireland with a recommended stop at either Tullamore Dew or the Rock of Cashel (admissions not included) before a final overnight stop.
Day 6 Morning ferry crossing and homeward journey.
