With a fascinating history, the east of Ireland has so much to offer visitors. Based in the lovely County Carlow and with a delightful combination of popular excursions and new attractions, this tour is sure to be in demand. Tours are based on Sunday or Monday departures.

Wicklow Gaol • Kildare • Huntington Castle • Lullymore Park • Dunbrody Famine Ship

Day 1 Ferry crossing to Dublin.

Day 2 Venture into the Bog of Allen for a guided tour of award winning Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park. A thoroughly enjoyable guided tour through 9,000 years of history is followed by a spot of traditional turf cutting and a ride on the Peatland Heritage Railway. This afternoon enjoy time at leisure in Kildare or, for an additional cost, visit the Irish National Stud and the acclaimed Japanese Gardens.

Day 3 A short drive to Huntington Castle and Gardens. Built in 1625 and still home to the same family, a guided tour with a family member will tell the tales of this beautiful castle. Enjoy the Gardens and tearooms before your onward journey to the charming seaside town of Wicklow. Following time at leisure, pass through the 'gates of hell' for an unforgettable tour of Wicklow's infamous gaol.

Day 4 Today begins with free time in Waterford. Founded by Viking traders in 914, the city has an exciting medieval flavour and riverside bustle. A guided tour of the Viking Triangle, or of Waterford Crystal, can be arranged for an additional cost. On then to New Ross and a guided tour of the 1840s Dunbrody Famine Ship Experience, with its animated interpretation of Ireland's Famine story.

Day 5 Morning ferry crossing and homeward journey.
