Oban • McCaig's Tower • Isle of Gigha • Achamore Gardens • Fort William • Ben Nevis
Day 1 Travel to an overnight stop in the border city of Carlisle.
Day 2 Venture north with a recommended stop in Glasgow with its fine blend of contemporary and Victorian architecture and a wealth of museums and galleries. Continue via Loch Lomond, Loch Awe and Loch Etvie to Oban for a 4 night stay.
Day 3 Enjoy a free day in Oban, the picturesque fishing town known as the "Seafood Capital of Scotland". Stroll along the esplanade, spend time in the shops or, for the more adventurous, take a walk up the hill to experience the spectacular views from McCaig's Tower.
Day 4 Depart hotel for the scenic drive down the west coast, passing the bustling village of Tarbert to Tayinloan where you will take the short ferry crossing to the Isle of Gigha. Seven miles long by a mile and a half wide, this community owned island is situated three miles west of the Kintyre peninsula and is the most southerly of the Hebridean Islands. This extraordinary island has much to offer visitors, not least the renowned Achamore Gardens, where we include admission. A beautiful place, set in mature and varied woodland, the 54 acre garden hosts an impressive collection of plants, which thrive in Gigha's warm microclimate. See the two acre walled garden, a sensory delight from which you will find breathtaking views across the sea to Islay and Jura.
Day 5 Today's excursion is a visit to the popular highland resort of Fort William which is home to the spectacular Nevis Range and including Ben Nevis: Scotland's tallest mountain. The beautiful scenery of the nearby Glencoe region provides excellent photo opportunities and a fantastic illustration of true Scottish landscapes.
Day 6 Travel south for an overnight stop in the Borders visiting Loch Lomond Shores shopping centre en route.
Day 7 Homeward journey.
