A tour of contrasts visiting attractions along the Welsh border, from the Roman city of Chester to the delightful canalside village of Llangollen. An excursion and rail journey in Snowdonia National Park is also included.

Day 1 Travel to the hotel for a welcoming cup of tea and slice of cake on arrival.
Day 2 Travel over the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to Llangollen for a 2 hour motorised canal boat trip along the “Stream in the Sky”. The boat travels through the beautiful Vale of Llangollen and across the famous Pontcysyllte Aquaduct, built by Thomas Telford and granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 2009. Afternoon visit to the magnificent stately home of Erddig Hall, complete with its restored formal walled garden.
Day 3 Travel into the charming Roman walled city of Chester for a guided 2 hour gentle walking tour of the town centre. Admission to the Cathedral is included as well as the chance to walk along the historic walls. Afternoon at leisure for shopping and independent exploring.
Day 4 Excursion via Ruthin to the Snowdonia National Park. Follow a scenic route through the mountains before arriving at Bala. Afternoon return rail journey along the picturesque shores of Lake Bala.
Day 5 Homeward journey with a recommended stop at the Wedgwood Visitor Centre near Stoke-on-Trent. Their new sophisticated tea room serves mouth-watering cakes and classic British teas.
