The Giant's Causeway

The Giant's Causeway

Titanic Belfast and Giant's Causeway

This tour encompasses the beautiful scenery of the Ards Peninsular, the spectacular Antrim Coast and the highlights of Belfast city including the impressive new Titanic visitor centre. Our itinerary is based on sailings from Cairnryan but crossings from Holyhead and overnight stops can be arranged if required.

Titanic Belfast • Crown Liquor Saloon • UNESCO site of Giant's Causeway • Mount Stewart House

Day 1 Ferry crossing via Cairnryan and on to Belfast for a 4 night stay.

Day 2 A full day in the capital city. Begin with a visit to the excellent Titanic Belfast, a new state of the art visitor centre built on the site where the world's most famous liner was created. Afterwards allow time to explore the city's highlights such as City Hall and the National Trust's historic Crown Liquor Saloon. Alternatively we can arrange a tour of Titanic Dock and Pump House to continue the Titanic theme.

Day 3 Take the stunning coastal route, via the small fishing town of Carnlough, to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Giant's Causeway. Explore the fascinating basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago or, as legend would have it, the stepping stones of the giant Finn McCool! The brand new, state of the art, visitor centre opened in 2012 offering an enhanced visitor experience. Handheld multimedia devices provide a flavour of the history, stories and experiences of the causeway. Return to Belfast via Ballymena.

Day 4 Travel south to Downpatrick for a brief stop at Down Cathedral, the final resting place of St. Patrick. Visit the pretty town of Strangford and cross the Lough by car ferry to Portaferry (fare payable locally). Continue to Newtonwards for a tour of Mount Stewart House and Gardens. Originally created by Lady Londonderry in the 1930s, the exotic plants flourish in the unique climate of the Ards Peninsula.

Day 5 Ferry crossing to Scotland and homeward journey.
