Bassano del Grappa
Treviso... Italian Culture in the Prosecco Hills
Nestled in the north east of Italy, the region around Treviso is within easy reach of some of the most beautiful cities in Italy, not least Venice, Padua and Vicenza. The hillsides in this region produce world renowned Prosecco and Grappa, with tastings highly recommended. In the Veneto region, the many waterways are lined with grand palaces and villas. We are based in the small town of Casavagra di Vedelago, staying in a wonderful and historic 16th century Venetian villa.
Padua • Venice • Bassano del Grappa • Vicenza
Day 1 Short Channel crossing. Overnight in the Metz area.
Day 2 Travel southwards through Switzerland and on to Casavagra di Vedelago for a 5 night stay.
Day 3 A day at leisure. Explore the small town, or relax by the hotel’s lovely pool and enjoy the villa’s grounds.
Day 4 A circular excursion into the hills. First stop is the historic town of Bassano del Grappa where we recommend a local guide. Continue on to the beautiful medieval town of Asolo, known as ‘The Pearl’ of the region and home to local artisans and producers. End the day with a Prosecco vineyard tour and tasting at the prestigious Villa Sandi.
Day 5 A full day excursion to the grand cities of Padua and Vicenza. In Padua visit the many churches and market places as you stroll through the elegant arcaded streets. Continue to the wonderful city of Vicenza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its numerous Palladian buildings. Guided tours can be arranged for both cities.
Day 6 Travel east to the jewel of the region, Venice. We recommend a local guide to explore the waterways and narrow streets with free time to discover this unique city. Alternatively, a full day to Verona is also possible.
Day 7 Leave Italy and travel on to an overnight stay near Metz.
Day 8 Short Channel crossing to Dover and home.
