The Friuli Region is one of Italy's hidden gems. The region shares borders with the Veneto region, Austria and Slovenia and so its people, culture and architecture are an interesting mix of Italian style and vivacity with Germanic practicality and efficiency.

Day 1 Fly to Italy and transfer to Sesto al Reghena, a picturesque town famous for its 8th century abbey, for a guided visit to the Abbey of Saint Maria in Silvis. Depart for Spilimbergo and visit the School of Mosaics, the Cathedral and the Castle, to admire the splendid frescoes of the Palazzo Fiorito.
Day 2 Morning guided tour of Udine, a town rich in monuments in Romanesque, Gothic and Venetian styles. Continue to the 8th century Villa Manin, owned by the last Doge of Venice and where Napoleon once stayed. Next is Palmanova, a Venetian fortress town with a star shaped plan.
Day 3 Full day to Lake Bled in Slovenia, with its island and 17th century baroque church surrounded by majestic Alpine mountains.
Day 4 Guided visits to Gemona and Venzone, completely rebuilt after the earthquake of 1976. Then continue to San Daniele to visit a ham factory. Afternoon guided tour followed by a visit to the Grave wine region.
Day 5 Full day to Venice, starting with a morning guided walking to tour of 'La Serenissima' including St Mark's Basilica, the Doge's Palace and the Rialto Bridge. Then an afternoon of independent sightseeing.
Day 6 Departure for Redipuglia and the Sei Busi mountains memorial to the Italian fallen of the First World War. Continue to Gorizia, for a guided tour of the city and its medieval castle. Afternoon visit to Cividale del Friuli, of Roman origin, for a guided walking tour including the Bridge of the Devil.
Day 7 Transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK.
