Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Mosel

From a base in Luxembourg City, this tour takes in the highlights of this small but fascinating country hidden amongst Europe’s forests and hills. Visits include the fascinating capital, Luxembourg City, the picturesque town of Vianden, on the River Our, and the winemaking centre Grevenmacher.

Luxembourg City • Trier • Grevenmacher • Vianden • The Mosel

Day 1 Short Channel crossing. Scenic drive through the Ardennes to Luxembourg for a 4 night stay.

Day 2 An excursion to Grevenmacher on the River Mosel. Set in splendid scenery, Grevenmacher is an important wine-growing centre. A wine tasting and/or boat trip can be arranged on request.

Day 3 A full day excursion to Luxembourg City. We suggest a half day guided tour followed by time at leisure. Sights include Luxembourg Castle Ruins, the Grand Ducal Palace and the Cathedral of Notre-Dame.

Day 4 An excursion to Trier, the oldest city in Germany. Once the regional Roman capital, it offers a host of well preserved reminders of bygone days with its amphitheatre and thermal baths.

Day 5 Depart Luxembourg. Time allowing, stop in medieval Bruges en route to Calais and home.
