Lisbon and Portugal's Historic Centre

This new tour highlights central Portugal and is based in the historic city of Évora, a region renowned for its wine, olive oil and cork production. The city has many sites to discover, as well as charming squares and cobbled streets. A full day visit to the wonderful capital Lisbon is possible from here. Prices are based on a Sunday and Wednesday departure and on a minimum of 30 passengers.

Day 1 Board the Brittany Ferries cruise ferry to Santander. Relax and enjoy a night on board the ship.

Day 2 Arrive in Santander and travel to the wonderful old city of Burgos for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 Continue south through Spain, past Salamanca and across into Portugal and arrive in Évora for a 5 night stay.

Day 4 A day at leisure in Évora, the capital of the region. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its Roman, Moorish and Mediaeval landmarks, as well as its charming squares and cobbled alleyways. All are within an easy stroll from the hotel. 

Day 5 Travel to the UNESCO listed town of Elvas, renowned for its star-shaped Forte de Santa Luzia and the impressive 16th century Amoreira Aqueduct. Time here to explore this historic town. Continue to the mediaeval town of Monsaraz and enjoy a boat trip on the largest man-made lake in Europe. End the day with a short stop at the village of São Pedro do Corval, known for its traditional pottery production.

Day 6 Enjoy a full day in Lisbon. As one of the oldest capitals in Europe, there is much to see and discover, including the historic Alfama, Chiado and Belém districts. Admission to the Jeronimos Monastery is included. A guided tour of the city is highly recommended. 

Day 7 A circular journey. Begin with a visit to the traditional town of Alcécer do Sal. Continue to Beja, which has been the site of many battles, with the Tower of the Castelo de Menagem dominating the city. End the day in Vidigueira and enjoy a tour and tasting at a local wine producer.  

Day 8 Depart Portugal and travel into Spain and continue to the Palencia area and dinner. 

Day 9Continue to Santander and board the overnight cruise ferry crossing back to the UK.

Day 10 Arrive back on the south coast and travel home.
