Day 1 Travel to the East Midlands.
Day 2 A scenic drive this morning to Barnsdale Gardens. The individual gardens include a wonderful variety of designs, plant species and horticultural techniques. Time permitting, visit the small town of Oakham before arriving at Rutland Water reservoir for a relaxing cruise and a chance to view Rutland's most famous landmark, Normanton Church.
Day 3 Today we head to Doddington Hall and Garden, an Elizabethan Hall and much-loved family home for over 400 years. Discover ‘The Tent Room’ or pop in the ‘Forgotten Room’, full of items that the family have little use for but cannot bear to part with. Meander through the wonderful Gardens, extensive farm shop and enjoy a coffee in one of the two cafes. Time allowing, take the short drive into the city of Lincoln for time at leisure.
Day 4 This morning is to The International Bomber Command Centre. The interactive exhibition tells the stories of those who served, supported and suffered during the bombing campaigns of World War II. See the Walls of Names, Ribbon of Remembrance and Spire Memorial. Final stop today is the Petwood Hotel at Woodhall Spa, home to the “Dambusters”, squadroned there during World War II. Enjoy a leisurely stroll and absorb the ambience of their impressive garden designed by Harold Peto, before a delightful Cream Tea.
Day 5 Homeward journey.
