The Lake District

Follow in the footsteps of William Wordsworth as you explore the stunning Lake District. Wordsworth was inspired by the beauty and grandeur of this National Park and you can witness the same spectacular sights on our tour of Cumbria, which includes two lake cruises, a railway journey and a distillery tour with a tasting.

Lake Ullswater • Lake Windermere • Grasmere • Ambleside • William Wordsworth • Kendal

Day 1 Travel to the hotel in Cumbria.

Day 2 This morning head north towards Lake Ullswater for a relaxing cruise followed by time at leisure in Keswick, which is surrounded by some of the area's highest and most beautiful peaks. In the afternoon, spend time in Grasmere where, time allowing and for an additional cost, it is possible to arrange admission to Dove Cottage and the Wordsworth Museum.

Day 3 A leisurely morning beginning with a short heritage rail journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside. No visit to the Lake District would be complete without a cruise on Lake Windermere. Departing from Lakeside, cruise along the southern half of the lake to Bowness. After disembarking, explore this popular holiday village at leisure. There are cafés, restaurants, shops and places to visit, such as the World of Beatrix Potter attraction.

Day 4 A scenic drive this morning to charming Ambleside, one of the most popular towns in the Lake District. See Waterhead, where the sweeping views across Lake Windermere and fells cannot be missed before making your way south to the quaint town of Ulverston. After lunch at leisure here, enjoy a tour and tasting at Shed 1 Distillery, a family run Award-winning Artisan Gin & Vodka Distillery.

Day 5 Homeward bound.
